Southern long-nosed armadillo
The southern long-nosed armadillo (Dasypus hybridus) is an armadillo species from South America. It is found in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay.
These small mammals are grey, between 25 to 50 centimetres long and weigh between 1,5 and 2 kilograms.
They belong to the order Cingulata and have a leathery armour shell with seven bands.
Distribution, habitat and diet
The southern long-nosed armadillo inhabits grasslands in northern Argentina, Uruguay, southern Brasil and Paraguay. This mammal lives in selfmade small burrows.
Its diet consists mainly of invertebrates although they may also eat vegetables and scraps.[2]
