Pivotal Bills/ In the News

In 2013, Senator Thatcher ran SB 142 Repeal of Blacklisting Provisions. Until this bill was passed, it was illegal to blacklist employees in Utah for philosophical reasons. However, after SB 142 was passed, it made it legal to blacklist employees. Many said that by removing the law prohibiting blacklisting, Senator Thatcher effectively gave a subtle nod towards employer discrimination.[7] 20 legislators voted against the bill.[8]
