The violet-bellied hummingbird (Juliamyia julie) is a species of hummingbird in the Trochilidae family. It is monotypical for genus Juliamyia. Juliamyia is a replacement name for Damophila which is preoccupied by a Lepidopteran.[2] It is found in Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, and Peru; it can occasionally be seen in Costa Rica.

Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, and heavily degraded former forest.
