Dale College Boys' High School
Dale College Boys' High School is a school in King William's Town, South Africa.
The school boasts a vast history in the country, being renowned for its excellent academic, sport and cultural results. The scool has an average intake of 450 boy's from Gr 8- 12. Various well-known sporting icons have been produced by Dale College including Makhaya Ntini cricket, Monde Zondeki, cricket Hilton Ackerman , Buster Farrer 4 diffrent SA sporting codes, LF Wood ,Bjorn Basson, Tera Mtembu and. Keegan Daniels The school is a government institution and the current headmaster is Mike Eddy.
The school celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2011. The King Williams Town Public School was founded in 1861. Its name was changed to Dale College in 1877, taking its name from Sir Langham Dale, superintendent-general of the Cape who died in 1898. LZ Lazarus was the most famous of Dale coaches running the rugby team from 1929 to 1954. The 1913 team was the first unbeaten, other unbeaten sides were 1916, 1938, 1964, 1990 and 1993. Many regard the 1993 side as the best ever, that year Dale had ten players in the Border School side. Percy Davis was the best known cricket coach, Dales' greatest rivals: Queens of Queenstown first played in 1891 and Selborne of East London first played 1892.
First old boy Springbok was Tony Taberer in 1906 followed by Cocky Brooks, Brem Neill, C B Jennings, Peewee Howe, H.O. de Villiers,Gcobani Bobo, Luke Smith, Keegan Daniel's Bjorn Basson ,Tera Mtembu ,Bandisi Maku, Shakes Soyiwapi ,and a range of other younger S.A players in various sporting codes that also included 5 SA hockey players in 2011-2013 and also exchange student All Black Old Dalian Greg Somerville.
