Major D. Sreeram Kumar AC[1] (born 1981) is an Indian Army officer. Commissioned into the army on 20 March 2004, he received the Ashok Chakra Award, India's highest peacetime decoration, and currently he is an Instructor in IMA.
Childhood
Sreeram Kumar was born in 1981 in Coimbatore and did his schooling in Sainik School, Amaravathi nagar, Udumalpet and passed out in 1998. He did his under graduation in The American College in Madurai.[2]
Army career
He was trained in the Officers Training Academy, Dehradun and was commissioned into 90 Medium Regiment (Regiment of Artillery) on 20 March 2004. He was promoted to the rank of Major on 24 Aug 2008. He also served with 39 Assam Rifle in Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur. Kumar has been credited with killing 12 terrorists, apprehending 23 terrorists and recovering weapons for which he was awarded the Ashok Chakra Award, India's highest peace time decoration. He is currently an Instructor at the Indian Military Academy.
