History

Georgian Cynology obtained an official status in 1991 when the Kynological Federation of Georgia[1] was founded. In 1997 the KFG (FCG in French) joined the Fédération Cynologique Internationale [2] as a contract partner. From 2001 the Kynological Federation of Georgia became an associated FCI member.

From the day of its creation, the Georgian Federation plays a noticeable role in European Cynology, it has close business liaisons with canine organisations from multiple European countries. The KFG regularly holds both National and International (CAC, CACIB) mono- and all-breeds dog shows; supports and promotes multiple Georgian canine clubs, communities and kennels; actively popularizes such authentic breeds as Caucasian Shepherd Dog and Georgian mountain dog.

At present the Kynological Federation of Georgia[1] is the only kennel organization in Georgia officially recognized by Fédération Cynologique Internationale.
