Cylia Vabre (born March 1, 1984 in Montélimar) is a French swimmer, who specialized in individual medley events.[2] She is a member of Lyon Natation in Lyon, and is coached and trained by Richard Martinez.[1]
Vabre qualified for the women's 200 m individual medley at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, by placing second behind Camille Muffat and clearing a FINA A-standard entry time of 2:13.19 from the Olympic trials in Dunkirk.[3] She challenged seven other swimmers on the fourth heat, including top medal favorites Muffat, Katinka Hosszú of Hungary, and Katie Hoff of the United States. Vabre raced to seventh place by nine hundredths of a second (0.09) behind host nation China's Qi Hui in 2:14.25. Vabre failed to advance into the semifinals, as she placed twenty-first out of 39 swimmers in the preliminary heats.[4]
