Crown Sri Lanka is a large casino and entertainment resort. It is situated on the Biera Lake in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The project is expected to be completed by 2017.[1] It is expected to cost $450 million and will consist off two 36 floor buildings[2]
History
The Sri Lankan government has actively pursued new ventures to attract tourism and boost the country's economy. The government intends to take advantage of its close proximity to India, as well as divert wealthy Indian travellers to come to Sri Lanka to gamble instead of travelling to Singapore or Macau.[3]
Crown Sri Lanka is one of three integrated resorts which have been planned in Sri Lanka. All are located in the bustling capital city, Colombo. Crown Sri Lanka is a partnership with Ravi Wijeratne (the head of Rank Holdings group) and Crown Limited who will each take a 45% stake. Other financial investors while control the balance.[4]
