Crescent Enterprises is a UAE-based conglomerate operating across multiple core industries and service sectors of the global economy, including: ports & logistics, aviation, healthcare, power & engineering, real estate & construction, IT commerce, media & entertainment, and private equity.[1] Crescent Enterprises has an international presence in over 22 countries and employs over 6,000 people through its 20 subsidiaries.
Crescent Enterprises' main subsidiary companies include Gulftainer Group,[2] Clinical Pathology Services (CPS), the Gama Aviation Group, and URUK Group, and Global Gumbo Group (G3) amongst others. The company also holds private equity fund investments and is a founding investor and shareholder in The Abraaj Group, GrowthGate Capital Corporation, and Siraj Palestine Fund. In May 2012, Crescent Enterprises entered a USD 50 million healthcare fund managed by TVM Capital Healthcare Partners.[3]

- Gulftainer Group, established in 1976, is the largest privately owned port management and 3PL logistics company in the world with a presence spanning over 5 contents. Gulftainer has successfully become a world-class international port operator, with businesses in the UAE, Iraq, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan, and projects in Russia, Ukraine, Eastern Europe and across the Middle East.[2]
- Gama AviationGama Aviation is a global business aviation services provider founded in 1983 in the United Kingdom. The company, which offers a range of aircraft management, charter and ground operation services, employs over 500 personnel and operates over 80 business aircraft through 25 operating bases across Europe, the United States, Asia, and the Middle East. Gama Aviation is headquartered at Farnborough Airport in the UK, with its American headquarters in Stratford, Connecticut, its Middle East and North Africa headquarters in Sharjah, the United Arab Emirates and its Asian headquarters in Hong Kong.[4]
- Uruk Engineering & Contracting Company is an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) company, headquartered in the United Arab Emirates with offices in Baghdad and Dubai. In 2003, Uruk set out to rebuild Iraq’s energy infrastructure and in 2012 announced the successful completion of the USD 85 million 168 MW Taji power plant, the first governmental initiative aimed at improving Iraq's utility infrastructure, by supplying 50,000 homes with access to electricity.[5]
- Clinical Pathology Services (CPS) was established in 2005, as the only purpose-built, independent, stand-alone, reference medical laboratory for human clinical laboratory testing in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. CPS is also the first fully CPA (UK) accredited private pathology practice in the Middle East, and first UAE laboratory to achieve General Civil Aviation Authority accreditation for the purpose of carrying out drug and alcohol testing for the aviation industry. CPS has affiliation agreements with Guys’, King’s College, and St. Thomas' NHJ Trust in the United Kingdom.[6]
- The Global Gumbo Group (G3) is a first-of-its-kind cross-cultural music and entertainment company co-founded by CEO Badr Jafar and Grammy award-winning music producer Quincy Jones and has operations in Dubai and Los Angeles. In 2013, G3 launched Dubai Music Week (DMW), an annual international B2B/B2C multi-tiered venture dedicated to fostering and promoting the region's artistic talent and music industry in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
- Crescent Enterprises Ventures is an incubation hub for start-ups spanning a wide range of sectors and industries to create a positive social impact. In addition to seeking out new opportunities, the division aims to internally develop early stage companies, assisting them through each phase of their growth.
Private equity
- The Abraaj Group, is a leading investor operating in the growth markets of Asia, the MENA region, Turkey and Central Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America. Employing over 300 people, Abraaj has 25 offices spread across 6 regional hubs in Dubai, Istanbul, Mexico City, Mumbai, Nairobi and Singapore. The Abraaj Group completed 15 exits through its Funds in 2013, realizing USD 700million for its investors in the current year and USD 1.7 billion from 30 investee companies since the beginning of 2012. Crescent Investments is a founding investor in The Abraaj Group with a holding in the General Partners entity and as a Limited Partner across several Abraaj funds and has representation on Abraaj’s Board of Directors.[7]
- Growthgate Capital is a growth investment firm established in 2007, engaged in direct equity investments focusing on mid-sized companies in the GCC and other select markets of the wider Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Its funds are managed by Keystone Equity Partners. Crescent Investments is a founding shareholder and investor in Growthgate Capital, and has representation on its Board of Directors and Investment Committee.[8]
- TVM Capital Healthcare Partners is a private equity and growth capital firm focused on investments in the healthcare markets of the Middle East, North Africa, and India. The firm is affiliated with the TVM Capital Group, which has been managing healthcare and life science capital for 30 years, having made more than 120 investments and performed more than 90 exits, including 40 IPOs. Crescent Investments is a Limited Partner in TVM Capital Healthcare Partners and has representation on the Fund Advisory Board.[1]
- The Siraj Fund Management Company is a specialized Palestinian company, founded by Massar International, for the sole purpose of managing investment funds in Palestine. Its first fund, the Siraj Palestine Fund I, was launched in February 2011, to provide direct equity investments in viable start-up, distressed, SME and relatively large enterprises in Palestine across various economic sectors. In 2013 the company was awarded the Europe, Middle East, Africa Finance award for Best Asset Manager in Palestine. Crescent Investments is a Limited Partner in Siraj Palestine Fund and has representation on the Limited Partners' Advisory Board.[9]
Social initiatives
Crescent Enterprises pursues various social initiatives including in partnership with Dubai Cares, Education for Employment (EFE), Cherie Blair Foundation for Women, Sharjah Tawteer Forum, Ashoka Gulf Globalizer, Arab Women Sports Tournament (AWST), and United Nation's World Humanitarian Day; environmental Environmental initiatives in partnership with the Emirates Wildlife Society in association with the World Wide Fund for Nature (EWS-WWF) and Green Abu Dhabi; educational Educational initiatives with the University of Cambridge, UK and Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), UAE; and is a founding member of the Pearl Initiative.
Crescent Enterprises through its subsidiary, the Global Gumbo Group, a cross-cultural entertainment production house led by the Grammy award-winning music producer Quincy Jones, also launched the charity single Tomorrow/Bokra late in 2011 featuring 24 of the Middle East's most popular musicians. This initiative raised USD 3.5 million in sponsorship and donations towards supporting arts programs in disadvantaged schools across the Middle East.
