Countrysides is Cracker's sixth studio album. According to EntertainmentOne, the album has sold 18,342 copies as of 2008.[3]

Before the release of the album, Cracker had been touring under the name "Ironic Mullet" at various dive bars across the American South, and even Alaska. The songs, while mostly covers, they felt came to reflect on the political climate the country was facing at the time.
