Cornucopia Institute
The Cornucopia Institute is a non-profit organization headquartered in Cornucopia, Wisconsin, with the mission of "Seeking economic justice for the family-scale farming community."
It has published several reports, including one on hexane used in processing soy products.[1] It also filed legal action against Dean Foods (White Wave), based on the use of the term organic.[2] It challenged a USDA marketing order related to almonds, and has filed complaints with the USDA about certain practices of Aurora Organic Dairy, Horizon Organic, Silk, and others, as they relate to organic standards and regulations.
In 2014, the Cornucopia Institute along with other groups that included Friends of the Earth, Credo, Maine Sierra Club, Mercola.com, Weston Price Foundation, Farm to Consumer Legal Defense Fund, Maine Organic Farmers and Growers Association and Green America were assisting the Organic Consumers Association in organizing transport for people to attend the event at Capitol Hill. There was to be a hearing then later a rally. Finally the event was to be rounded out by an organic lunch.[3]
