Copperstone University
Copperstone University is located in Kitwe Zambia. It was founded in 2004.
History
Established in 2004, through company incorporation, the institution’s primary objective is to foster quality and solid higher education to Zambians. It’s founded on the premise of "Copper-stone" principle – a stone that lays a solid foundation to the major mineral contributing to economic development of the country. In the same vein, Copperstone University aims at providing solid and high quality education to its clients. In July, 2011, Copperstone University attained its charter. The institution becomes one of the few Universities in Zambia to be conferred this unique status by Government.
As a chartered University it entails that the institution has attained maturity to govern itself, therefore both government, the public and international community have full confidence in it. The 27 July of each year is marked as the Charter day for the University and it is characterized by academic activities which are show cased to the public. The institution confers Honorary Degrees and awards to outstanding personalities.
Location
Located in the City of Kitwe, the third largest town in Zambia, and the centre of Copperbelt, Zambia’s copper mining region. The University has four campuses in the heart of the city of Kitwe; the main campus is located on Plot number 8122, Copper House, along Central Street in Nkana West, where the Head Office is, the second campus is on Plot number 196, along Mpezeni Road, in Parklands area where the third campus is on plot no. 22 Chandamali Road opposite Kitwe Basic School and the fourth campus is located along the kantanta road on plot number 27.
CU also operates a branch in Kasama, Northern Province; located at Gateway campus at Sichivula Building, in an effort to expand its operations. The university is one of the leading private institutions of higher learning and its programmes today attract well over 1000 applicants each year. The university has a total population of well over 1,500 students and staff establishment of 75 of whom 60 are academic staff.

It is a multidisciplinary institution offering courses from certificate, Diploma, Degrees and to Master levels.
Registration and Accreditation
Copperstone University is a 100% owned Zambian institution with linkages within and outside the country.
Ministry of Education: Copperstone is registered by the Ministry of Education under the 1999 University Act and is offering degree programmes at both graduate and postgraduate levels.
- TEVETA: Copperstone is registered by Teveta and is offering programmes at certificate and diploma levels
- ABMA (UK):Various programmes at certificate, diploma and advanced diploma levels are being offered
- CIPS (UK): Copperstone is a CIPS-approved training centre
- IMIS (UK): Copperstone is an IMIS-approved training centre
- CILT (UK): Copperstone is a CILT-approved training centre
- BINARY UNIVERSITY OF MALAYSIA: Copperstone is running a twinning program with Binary University of Malaysia
- ACCA: Copperstone is an ACCA approved training centre
- ZICA: Copperstone is a ZICA approved training centre
- University of Africa: Copperstone has signed a collaborative MOU with University of Africa

Governance
The board of Directors
The University has a Board of Directors comprising a Chairperson and Directors. It is the supreme decision making body of the university and therefore, superintends the University Council in terms of policy directions, rules and regulations, annual budgets and establishment issues.
