Connecticut State Militia
The Connecticut State Militia are the Armed Forces of the State of Connecticut under the authority of the Governor and the Adjutant General of the state.
Classes of Militia
The Connecticut State Militia is divided into four classes: The National Guard, the Organized Militia, the Unorganized Militia, and the Naval Militia.
- The Connecticut National Guard comprises both the Army and Air National Guard.
- The Organized Militia consists of the four units of the Governor's Guards, the Connecticut State Guard, and the Connecticut State Guard Reserve.
- The Unorganized Militia consists of all male residents of the state and those who intend to become residents who are between the ages of 18 and 45 and are not exempt from military duty per federal or state law. Female residents of the state may voluntarily offer their services to the Unorganized Militia.
