Carey James Balboa Leonardo Campo |
The Colombian Party Cartel is a Latin music production company based both in Nashville, Tennessee and Cali, Colombia. Formed in 2009, the group consists of vocalist/DJ/producer Carey James Balboa and DJ Leonardo Campo. They have contributed much to the growing Latin music scene in Nashville, Tennessee, providing more opportunities for fans of Latin music to gather.
The group also produces original material, including such singles as "Chico Malo" (featuring Jiggy Drama) and "Intocable" (feat. Shungu), which have placed on the Colombian radio rotation.
History
Formation
Carey James Balboa met Leonardo Campo in early 2009 at a party in Nashville, Tennessee where the two discovered they shared a deep love for Latin music and a desire to fill a much needed void for musical events for the growing Latino Nashville community. They soon began hosting monthly Latin parties, which quickly became one of the largest monthly Latin music parties in the Southeastern United States.
In 2011, The Colombian Party Cartel also began hosting a weekly Latin music radio program on Vanderbilt University’s WRVU. The show featured such guests as Michael Stuart, El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico and Angel & Khriz.
"La Murga De Colombia"
The first single by CPC was "La Murga de Colombia", a reggaeton track released in 2010 in which Balboa sampled and recorded a remake of the salsa classic "La Murga" originally recorded by Willie Colón/Héctor Lavoe. It was recorded at Quad Studio A in Nashville.

"Chico Malo" (feat. Jiggy Drama)
The duo’s second single was an original merengue track, "Chico Malo", which was recorded with Colombian urban artist Jiggy Drama. Released in Spring of 2011, the track was included on El Ritmo Records’ mix-tape “Trasno-Show”. It was recorded at the Blackbird Studio D in Nashville by Latin Grammy winner David Hall (Ricardo Arjona, Quincy Jones, Kenny Chesney) and was mixed by engineer Dave Clauss (Shakira, Justin Bieber, U2, Quincy Jones) in NYC. The bass was provided by David Santos (Neville Brothers, Billy Joel, Elton John) and the keys by Rony Jay (Sonora Carruseles).
