Cody James Buckel (born June 18, 1992) is a pitcher in the Texas Rangers organization. He currently plays for the High-A Myrtle Beach Pelicans.
Professional career
Buckel was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the second round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft out of Royal High School in Simi Valley, California.[1]
Buckel began his career with the Arizona League Rangers in 2010. He pitched four innings allowing no runs with nine strikeouts. In 2011, he played for the Hickory Crawdads going 8–3 with a 2.61 earned run average with 120 strikeouts in 96 innings. Prior to the 2012 season, Baseball America ranked him as the Rangers seventh best prospect.[2] Buckel started 2012 with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Through his first 54 innings he has a 1.33 ERA and 64 strikeouts.
