Chubbtown, Georgia
Chubbtown is an unincorporated community in Floyd County, Georgia, in the United States.[1]
History
Chubbtown was founded as a colony of free blacks in 1864 by Henry Chubb, and named for him.[2] A post office was established as Chubbtown in 1894, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1903.[3] The town was spared destruction by the Union Army during the Civil War.[4] A flood devastated Chubbtown in 1916.[5]
The Chubb Methodist Episcopal Church is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.[6]
