Christen Smed
Christen Smed (born Christen Christensen Storsveen), who was born in 1797 at farm number 34 in West Gausdal, and died 28 April 1846 in Molde, was the first person to climb Romsdalshornet, together with Hans Bjermeland in 1828.
Christen was a blacksmith by trade. On the 24 March 1828, he decided to move to Romsdalen, and on the 22 September 1829 he married Ingelev Jonsdatter Myrabøe. In 1830 he moved to Molde, and lived there until his death.
There is some confusion as to in which year the first ascent of Romsdalshorn took place. It was probably in 1826, 1827 or 1828. His diaries, which document that Christen Smed moved from Romsdalen in 1828, do not have any information before 1828.
