Chloe Rose (born October 25, 1994) is a Canadian actress, most commonly known for her role in the long-running TV series Degrassi: The Next Generation.
Career
Rose is most prominently known for her role as Katie Matlin in Degrassi: The Next Generation. Rose was cast in 2011, with no previous acting experience.[1] She left the show in 2013, after three seasons.[2]
Following her departure from Degrassi, Rose went on to play a variety of guest roles in several hit TV series, including Rookie Blue (2012 - 2014), Lost Girl (2013), Killjoys (2015) and Dark Matter (2015).
Rose has also successfully made the transition into feature film work, starring in a string of indie films, most notably The Lesser Blessed, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2013,[3] and the Bruce McDonald horror film Hellions, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2015.[4][5]
Rose currently stars in the popular Canadian web series teenagers (2014–present) as the central female protagonist, Bree. Her role has been praised by fans and bloggers,[6][7][8][9] with Susie Stone of culturestarved.com writing, "...I saw myself in Bree when she talked to herself and dreamt of her first time making love."[9] In 2015, Rose was nominated for 'Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series' by the International Academy of Web Television for her role in the series.[10] For her role in teenagers, Rose has also been nominated for awards at the Los Angeles Web Series Festival, the Indie Series Awards, and the Vancouver Web Series Festival.[11][12][13]
When asked what inspired her to pursue a career in acting, Rose said:
Watching Amelie as a young girl made me fall in love with the romantic and mystical world of film. I’m not sure if that exactly inspired me to become an actor, but it was a start.[14]
During the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival, where Rose's film Hellions was screening, Indiewire named her as one of the "9 Up-and-Coming Actors to Watch For".[15]
Personal life
In her early teens, Rose babysat for award-winning Canadian director Bruce McDonald, with whom she would later work with on Hellions (2015).[16]
