CWSA China Wine and Spirits Awards

The China Wine and Spirits Awards is an annual wine and spirits competitions that takes place in China. It is the biggest wine competition in Asia.[1] The competition is focused on finding wines and spirits for the Chinese market. The wines are judged by 100 Chinese wine tasters, importers and distributors and wines are judged on value for money. Wine producers looking to expand into the Chinese market enter their products for judging. Wines are blind test-tasted.[2] The competition is split into 2 parts. The China Wine and Spirits Best Value award, where wines are tested by price range and wines that offer good value for money are awarded. This award is held every Spring. The China Wine and Spirits Award is held in Autumn and wines are judged to find the best wine for the Chinese market. The awards regularly receive entries from producers from more than 35 wine-producing countries.[3]

Judging

100 CWSA Judges, China based Importers, Distributors, Retailers and Sommeliers' buyers of wines and spirits.Together they are responsible for sales of 50 million bottles of wine and spirits per year.[4][5][6]

Entrants

Wines and spirits enter from 38+ countries and for blind tasting.

Structure

Two major competitions per year CWSA and CWSA Best Value.

CWSA

Annually, held in Autumn. Wines are judged regardless of price..[7]

CWSA Best Value

CWSA Best Value tastes wines and spirits in categories relating to price. Prizes are awarded to wines that are judged to have good value for money. Annually, held in Spring. [8][9]
