Chief of the Armed Forces (Switzerland)
The Chief of the Armed Forces (commonly referred to as the Chief of Army (CDA)) leads the Armed Forces of Switerzland and reports directly to the head of the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sports and to the Swiss Federal Council.
History
The Chief of the Armed Forces only became a rank in 2004 when it was switched from the rank Chief of the General Staff. At the time Christophe Keckeis was the Chief of the General Staff when the rank switched he switched to the new rank and was the Chief of the Armed Forces for 3 more years.
