Chew Moor railway station briefly served the village of Chew Moor, between Lostock and Westhoughton, England before being replaced by Lostock Junction station when it opened a mile to the north.
History
The station was opened in 1848 by the Liverpool and Bury Railway. However with the opening of Lostock Junction station less than a mile to the north by the Liverpool and Bury Railway in August 1852, Chew Moor was no longer viable, and was soon closed in 1852.[1]
Location
The 1:10,560 Lancashire and Furness OS Map shows that Chew Moor station was situated immediately north of the footbridge which in 2015 still carried a footpath heading north from the junction of Chulsey Gate Lane and St Johns Road on the western side of the village.
By 2015, no trace of the station could be seen, though the double tracks through the site (in use as Manchester to Southport Line) and were planned to be electrified.
