Cherakula Vellalar
Cherakula Vellalar is a sub-caste of the greater pillai community and people belonging to this caste are prominently present in the Coimbatore District of Tamil Nadu, India. Cheraman Peruman is the god for this community and a statue of Cheraman Peruman is present in Perur Temple. This community is also called "Kodikal Pillai" due to their greater involvement in cultivation of the creeper grown with long pole support, piper bettel.
