Chattur

In the Dungeons and Dragons fantasy role-playing game, specifically in the sci-fi themed Spelljammer campaign setting, the chattur, also known as the "space bandit", is a magical beast.

Publication history

The chattur first appeared in the Monstrous Compendium Spelljammer Appendix (1990).[1] The chattur received a brief description under the mammal entry in the Monstrous Manual (1993).[2]

Description

Chatturs are tiny, humanoid creatures who combine the features of rodents and monkeys. They are slender and quick, and bear an innocent look which many humans find appealing. They have mask-like facial markings, similar to that of the raccoon, which earns them the "space bandit" name. Chatturs are simplistic survivalists who live in small family groups which inhabit cities and ships. They fight only when their nests or such is threatened, and have little desire other than to feed themselves, breed, and live life. Quite often others in their environments choose to ignore them, or don't even know they are there. Occasionally, however, a Chattur leader might choose to become a rogue. The mortal enemy of chatturs is the Wryback.

Chatturs speak Sylvan, and occasionally Common as well.

They are neutral good in alignment.
