Princess Charlotte Louise Dorothée de Rohan (25 October 1767 1 May 1841) was the secret wife of the duc d'Enghien and a member of the House of Rohan.

Biography

Princess Charlotte de Rohan was born in Paris. Her father was Charles Jules, Prince of Rochefort, a member of the House of Rohan, and her mother was Marie-Henriette d'Orléans-Rothelin, the last member of the House of Orléans-Rothelin. Related to the Dukes of Brittany, members of the House of Rohan ranked as Foreign Princes or prince étrangers. This allowed them the style of Highness.

She married the duc d'Enghien in Baden on 18 February 1804. On 21 March 1804, the duc d'Enghien was executed on the order of Emperor Napoléon. A widow for the rest of her life, she died in Paris at the age of 73.

Charlotte was niece of the famous Cardinal de Rohan. She was also related to Victoire Armande Josèphe de Rohan, Madame de Guéméné, Governess of the Children of France for the children of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette; and to Charlotte Élisabeth Godefride de Rohan.
