Charles Danforth "Charley" Pettys (born April 25, 1990) is an American-born, Filipino footballer who is a member of the Philippines national football team. He last played for Global F.C..
Playing career
Youth and college
Born in Columbus, Ohio to an American father and Filipino mother, Pettys played for amateur and semi-professional teams both prior to and while attending college.[1] Before playing his only season with the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos, he played with Cincinnati Kings of the USL Premier Development League.[2]
Pettys transferred to finish out his collegiate eligibility with the Kentucky Wildcats, however his family moved from the suburbs of Columbus to Southern California resulting in off-season play with Orange County Blue Star.[3]
Club
Pettys began his professional career with Los Angeles Blues of the USL Pro in 2013.[4] In January 2014, he joined Filipino side Global F.C., a first division team in the UFL.[5]
International
Pettys, being eligible to represent both the United States (via birth) and the Philippines (via heritage on his mother's side), chose to join the Philippines national football team. He made his international debut as a substitute in a 3–0 win over Nepal in Doha, Qatar on April 11, 2014.[6]
