Charlet Duboc (born September 6, 1985) is an on-screen correspondent and documentary producer for the UK branch of VICE Media. Duboc specialises in cultural exposé and human interest documentary, fronting a variety of VICE's content, including acclaimed groundbreaking series "Fashion Week Internationale". [1] and "Munchies guide to Scotland".[2][3] She also writes for The Guardian[4] and has appeared on CNN.[5]

Early life

Duboc was born in Surrey, United Kingdom.[6] Interested in Vice magazine as a teenager, she told scribd.com in 2013 that, "I’d travel all the way to London to get a copy of the magazine. I’d take it home and hide it from my mum and fantasise about dating the guys who wrote it.”[7]

VICE career

Duboc started off at VICE as an intern tasked with finding fashion-related stories. Her first break came when she found that the first ever fashion week was scheduled to go ahead in Islamabad Pakistan. After pitching the idea of using 'other' fashion weeks as a hook to explore stories of identity and culture around the world, she was given the go ahead and made the presenter of the new show, titled Fashion Week Internationale, soon after learning to self-produce and direct much of the content she fronts.[8] This production was done with the help of director William Fairman, whom Duboc credits as her mentor and greatest professional inspiration, and under the guidance of Andy Capper. Each episode of Fashion Week Internationale web series is 30 minutes long and is based in a country not commonly associated with mainstream fashion programming.

In 2015 Duboc took a break from reporting on screen to step wholly behind the camera, in order to produce a TV show for the upcoming launch of VICE Media's television channel VICELAND. The production is a remake of her series Fashion Week Internationale, this time for a US television audience. The show goes by a new name 'State of Undress' and is fronted by new host - American model, actress and writer Hailey Gates. Filming was completed in late 2015 and the 6 part show airs from early March 2016. 2016 will see Duboc return to VICE's screens.

Fashion Week Internationale

Duboc hosts Fashion Week Internationale, a VICE series that explores the world's lesser known fashion week events, using them as a backdrop to uncover often controversial cultural issues: race, gender, sweatshops, plastic surgery to name a few.[9]
