Chanpatia (Vidhan Sabha constituency) (Hindi: चनपटिया विधान सभा निर्वाचन क्षेत्र) is an assembly constituency in Paschim Champaran district in the Indian state of Bihar.

Overview

As per orders of Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, 7. Chanpatia (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is composed of the following: Chanpatia community development block; and Chanayan Bandh, Mahana Gani, Ratanmala, Sarisawa, Barawa Semaraghat, Harpur Garawa, Dumari, Mahanwa Rampurwa, Dhokarahan, Baithania Bhanachak and Nautan Khurd gram panchayats of Majhaulia CD Block.[1]

Chanpatia (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is part of 2. Paschim Champaran (Lok Sabha constituency).[1]It was earlier part of Bettiah (Lok Sabha constituency).

Election results

1977-2010

In the November 2010 state assembly elections, Chandra Mohan Rai of BJP won the 7. Chanpatia assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Ejaj Hussain of BSP. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Satish Chandra Dubey of BJP defeated Vishwa Mohan Sharma of Congress in October 2005 and Sharfuddin Shekh of SJP(R) in February 2005. Krishna Kumar Mishra of BJP defeated Sharfuddin Shekh of SJP(R) in 2000. Birbal Sharma of CPI defeated Bharat Rai of Congress in 1995. Krishna Kumar Mishra of JD defeated Birbal Sharma of CPI in 1990. Birbal Sharma of CPI defeated Prabhat Kishore Dwivedi of Congress in 1985 and 1980. Vir Singh of Janata Party defeated Birwal Sharma of CPI in 1977. [2][3]
