Playing career

Between the 2004 and 2006 seasons, Painchaud played in the Ontario Hockey League with the Mississauga IceDogs and Sarnia Sting. He was selected by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 4th round (106th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

On September 26, 2008, his NHL rights were traded by the Thrashers, along with Ken Klee and Brad Larsen, to the Anaheim Ducks for Mathieu Schneider.[1]

He played for the ECHL's Victoria Salmon Kings in their final season (201011) before splitting the 201112 season between the Reading Royals and the Chicago Express, both of the ECHL. Painchaud skated with the Wichita Thunder of the Central Hockey League for the 201213 season before returning to the ECHL for the 201314 season with the South Carolina Stingrays.

On August 21, 2014, Painchaud agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Brampton Beast of the CHL.[2]
