Chad Painchaud (born 27 May 1986 in Mississauga, Ontario) is a Canadian professional ice hockey right winger who is currently playing for the Brampton Beast of the ECHL. He was a 4th round pick (106th overall) for the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
Playing career
Between the 2004 and 2006 seasons, Painchaud played in the Ontario Hockey League with the Mississauga IceDogs and Sarnia Sting. He was selected by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 4th round (106th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
Between the 2006–07 and 2009–10 seasons, Painchaud bounced between the AHL and the ECHL, playing for the Gwinnett Gladiators, Chicago Wolves, Bakersfield Condors, Iowa Chops, Salmon Kings, and the Manitoba Moose. On September 26, 2008, his NHL rights were traded by the Thrashers, along with Ken Klee and Brad Larsen, to the Anaheim Ducks for Mathieu Schneider.[1]
He played for the ECHL's Victoria Salmon Kings in their final season (2010–11) before splitting the 2011–12 season between the Reading Royals and the Chicago Express, both of the ECHL. Painchaud skated with the Wichita Thunder of the Central Hockey League for the 2012–13 season before returning to the ECHL for the 2013–14 season with the South Carolina Stingrays.
On August 21, 2014, Painchaud agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Brampton Beast of the CHL.[2]
