Galleria Shopping Centre (formerly known as Centro Galleria, Westfield Galleria and Galleria 220 is a super-regional shopping centre located in Morley, Western Australia, about 8 kilometres (5 mi) northeast of Perth's central business district. The Galleria is the fourth largest shopping centre in Western Australia It contains a Myer Target Australia Kmart Australia Coles Woolworths Greater Union Cinema, known as Event Cinemas Rebel Sport ALDI opening mid 2016 and Dick Smith.[1] It contains several major retailers and approximately 227 specialty retailers.

The present centre was built over a series of developments between 1988 with Coles and Kmart Australia. in 1994, with Greater Union Cinema Event Cinemas and Myer. In 2008 they expanded a new level for there Myer in 2016 they will have a new ALDI Located behind outside Woolworths and in 2018 they will give there centre a big revamp and will have a Harris Scarfe or a Big W. Galleria has a gross lettable area of 73,204 m2 (787,960 sq ft) and 4,235 parking spaces.

History

The shopping centre was developed by Coles Myer. Construction started in 1989 after a fire had destroyed the Boans complex. Construction joined two separate shopping centres on the western side of Collier Road. Collier Road, which had previously extended southeast from the end of Wellington Road, was rerouted further east to enable the building of the central food court and eastern wing of Galleria. The 1994 redevelopment was designed by the Los Angeles architects RTKL Associates Inc and local firm Oldham Boas Ednie-Brown Architects, Planners & Interior Designers (now known as The Buchan Group). In 1997, the Westfield Group purchased a 50% share.[2]

In 2003 Galleria was acquired from Westfield Group by Centro Properties Group, but Westfield Group continued to operate the centre until late 2004 when Centro Properties Group officially took over management of the centre.[3] In 2013 as part of Centro's rebranding to Federation Limited the centre was rebranded simply to "Galleria". They had their first major stores Target Australia and Woolworths. In 1988 opened Coles and Kmart Australia. In 1994 a Myer and an Event Cinemas opened. In 2016 they will open two new major stores and an ALDI.

Galleria's major retailers include three level Myer, Woolworths, Coles, Target, Kmart, Rebel Sport and Greater Union Cinemas. Galleria features an eight-cinema Greater Union complex and approximately 227 speciality retailers.

Transport

Galleria is situated in the suburb of Morley and has a two-level carpark. The Morley Major Bus Interchange is on the western side of the shopping centre and it also has a few bus stops around it, serviced by a variety of routes including express services to Perth and the CircleRoute.

Future Info

Galleria had planned for a development and a revamp opening opening mid 2018 Possible new stores are Big W or a Harris Scarfe. A New ALDI replacing Morley Public Library opening in mid 2016 as one of Western Australia's First ALDI Supermarket.
