Celaenorrhinus proxima, the Common Black Sprite, is a butterfly in the Hesperiidae family. It is found in Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Nigeria, from Cameroon to the Democratic Republic of Congo and in Sudan, Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.[2] The habitat consists of forests and heavy woodland.
The larvae feed on Mimulopsis species.
