Castilho (Mindelo)
Grémio Sportivo Castilho (Portuguese for Castilian, Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK: Grémiu Sportib' Kastidju, São Vicente Crioulo: Grémio Sportib' Castilh') is a football (soccer) club that plays in the Premier division of the Interisland League in Cape Verde. It is based in the city of Mindelo in the island of São Vicente and plays in the stadium with a capacity of 4,000 It is the team won the few cups before independence, the club never won any titles after independence.
The club won their first national (then mainly colonial) and only title in 1973, two years before the independence of Cape Verde, they defeated Vitória from Praia 1-0.[1] In their last final match and competition under Portuguese rule, the club lost 2-1 to Sporting Clube da Praia.
Recently the club was relegated to the second island division in the 2013-14 season after being ranked 8th with 8 points and only 2 wins, they were second in the island second division during the 2014-15 season. The first match against Académica lost a nearly huge 6-1 in the first match and the second ended in a draw with 3 goals, thus Castilho is kept in the second division.
