Cassa di Risparmio della Provincia dell'Aquila (Carispaq) was an Italian regional saving bank and now a charity organization, based in L'Aquila, Abruzzo region. The bank sector of the organization (a S.p.A.) was absorbed into parent company Banca Popolare dell'Emilia Romagna in 2013. The charity section: Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio della Provincia dell'Aquila, was formed since 1992.

History

Cassa di Risparmio dell'Aquila was found in 1859. The bank was renamed into Cassa di Risparmio della Provincia dell'Aquila in the early 20th century. On 20 August 1992 due to Legge Amato, the organization was split into Cassa di Risparmio della Provincia dell'Aquila S.p.A. and Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio della Provincia dell'Aquila. On 9 October 1992, Banca di Roma became a minority shareholders for 20%. In 1999 "Finbanche d'Abruzzo S.p.A." became the sub-holding company of the S.p.A., which was a joint venture of Banca Popolare dell'Emilia Romagna, Fondiaria Assicurazioni and the bank foundation.[1] In 2004 Fondiaria-Sai sold 15.4% Finbanche d'Abruzzo for €22 million and 4.5% shares of Banca della Campania to BPER. In 2006 BPER owned 100% shares of the sub-holding as well as the sub-holding owned about 79.92% shares of the bank.[2] in 2006 the foundation owned about 16.95% shares, with 3.125% was owned by others.[3] In 2011 BPER bought all the shares of the bank and absorbed it into the company in 2013.
