Casper Rose was a fictional character in the Sky One football drama, Dream Team (TV series), played by Robert Kazinsky. He was also played by Conor Maynard as his younger self. He was said to be called Casper as he liked ghosts and roses. He was introduced in Season 9 as the main character after a cataclysmic finish to Season 8 wiping out all but four of the players.

History

Casper Rose (born 1 January 1983) was the glamour in the dressing room, the second biggest star around which the other players revolve - the uniting force that binds them together under Henry Leslie's tutelage. Having an ex-footballer father and a wealthy mother meant Cass never wanted for anything as a young boy. Fast-tracked into the Charlton youth team with the influence of his father, Cass' passion for football came alive when he met Eugene Christie. Where he was played at a young age by Conor Maynard. They immediately discovered that they were the perfect on-pitch partners, devastating defences from the ages of ten to sixteen. They signed pro terms together, and were the best of friends.

In his first full season as a Charlton first team member, he and Eugene steered the Addicks to the Premiership by winning the First Division.

War of the Roses

The following season, Casper's career took a turn for the worse when it was discovered that these two boys had more than just football and friendship in common - they shared the same father.

Due to a drop in form he was lined up to be sold to Millwall until a bust up took place between him and Eugene during a match between Charlton and Harchester United. Cass' jealousy of Eugene, his father's other son, mounted which resulted in him enacting a devastating revenge on his brother and ending Eugene's big money move to Liverpool. This tore their friendship apart. Ironically their bust up against Harchester was the first game both brothers wore the same surname on the back of their shirt.

Casper was then loaned out to Millwall for the rest of the season and then in 2001 was sold to Tottenham but only stayed there for one season. In 2002 he joined Italian side Roma in the aftermath of the death of his father and being unable to reconcile with his brother. Although he scored goals for both Spurs and Roma he was inconsistent and was not meeting his potential.

Joining Harchester

By 2005, Cass was looking for a big money move home so he could force his way into the World Cup squad and he wanted to be reunited with his brother. Harchester signed Casper on a free transfer which was ordered by the secret owner of the club who also ordered the club to sign Eugene from Charlton. Their first knowledge of this came at the Cardiff memorial when both players were involved in an incident.

Casper and his brother Eugene lined up together for Harchester United, but a series of bust-ups has prevented them from playing together game-in, game-out. They were also not seeing eye to eye; however, that all changed after a robbery at Eugene's house resulted in Casper getting shot. Casper survived and he and Eugene put all their troubles behind them to reunite.

The second half of the season saw Casper recapture his form and score crucial goals in the League Cup final and the FA Cup quarter final. After an indifferent start to the season, Cass was on fire and it looked like a possibility that both he and Eugene would make their father's dream come true by playing together for England.

Owning Harchester

It was revealed that Casper was the mysterious owner of Harchester United. He wanted to keep it a secret until the end of the season but found it difficult to do so, he confessed all to CEO Lynda Block. He explained that he could afford the club due to a wealthy inheritance. He said he bought the club because he saw it as a chance to start again alongside idol Henry Leslie, pick his game up and improve his form with service from winger Ryan Naysmith, and as owner he could sign Eugene, be reunited with him and have the form he had in his Charlton days. He also explained how he signed Felix Hahn as manager to sign both him and his brother (although it is believed that Hahn had no ideas Cass was behind the ownership), reinstate Block as CEO and he would get a decent bonus for doing so. Whilst it was a secret, Cass was owner to Lynda and Felix, he communicated to them by writing letters delivered by manipulative hotshot striker Owen Fenton.

Relationship with Alex Dempsey

Casper secretly signed Alex Dempsey as an Assistant Manager to Felix Hahn with a view to having him become full-time manager in the future. Six months later, Hahn was forced to resign and Dempsey was given the job. After Lynda mentioned to Alex the letters she has been receiving Alex then revealed to Lynda that he has been receiving similar for years. These letters have confused Alex for years and feels like someone has been watching him.

Alex found out that it was Cass who owns the club, who bought him here as manager, who has been writing to him for the last 3 years and who sent him to a private clinic to try to get his injured leg repaired. Alex reacted angrily by smashing an inkpot into Caspers head after Cass told Alex he would be nothing without him. The blow resulted in Cass smacking his head against the wall and dying instantly.

A distraught Dempsey later found out at the will reading (which he was surprisingly invited to) that he was Casper's other half brother. Cass found out at his fathers funeral that he fathered another footballer and that he has been writing to him for years and once Alex was injured Casper decided to continue writing to him to motivate him more. In the will Cass left Harchester united FC to both Eugene and Alex (as long as Alex changed his surname to Rose).

Relationship with Ashleigh King

Casper met a drunken Ashleigh King at a party where they hit it off and slept together. He did not see her again until he joined Harchester. Unfortunately for him she did not remember that evening and found his antics irritating. Casper later found out that Ashleigh was dating manager Felix Hahn which resulted in Cass forcing Felix to resign (Hahn did not know who the owner was at this point). This left Casper free to pursue his interest for Ashleigh who was cleary developing feelings for him too. However Ash had a drunken evening with Caspers team mate Ryan Naysmith which left Casper devastated as he believed Ash and Ryan Had Slept together when really they both fallen asleep on the same bed when they were drunk. However Casper realised nothing was more important than his love for Ashleigh as she was the only woman he had ever loved and been faithful to, and he proposed to her a few hours before his death.

At this time a drunken Ashleigh walked past Casper's room but does not remember a thing about that night (common for Ashleigh to black out when drunk) Once she finds out he is dead she blames herself. This leads Alex Dempsey to plant an ink covered towel in her bag at the FA cup final. This results in Ashleigh freaking out, believing she killed Casper and handing herself into the police. Later in the series we heard that Eugene returned for the off-screen trial and wept as Alex was given life.
