Carl Brewer (born March 8, 1957) is a former mayor of Wichita, Kansas. He was Wichita's first elected African-American mayor. He won his first term in 2007. Brewer was re-elected to a second four-year term on April 5, 2011.[1] Brewer's final term ended on April 13, 2015 with Mayor-elect Jeff Longwell being sworn in the following day.

Brewer represented Wichita's City Council District 1 from 2001 to 2007.[2] On April 3, 2007, he defeated incumbent Carlos Mayans in the race for mayor of Wichita by 61 percent to 37 percent.[3]

Brewer serves on the Board of Directors of the National League of Cities.

Brewer is a member of Bloomberg's Mayors Against Illegal Guns Organization.

He graduated from Wichita North High School in 1975. He attended Friends University. He has worked in the aviation industry (Boeing, Spirit, and Cessna) for 30 years.[4] He is (currently) on a leave of absence from his job at Spirit AeroSystems.[4]
