History
Carenet began in 1988 as a patient-management operation within the Christus Santa Rosa Health System in San Antonio, Texas. In 2004, an investor group purchased Carenet from Christus and transitioned the company into a nationwide business processing outsourcer offering medical contact center services that support member and patient programs for healthcare organizations including health plans, hospital systems, employer groups, pharmacy benefit managers, utilization management firms, the US Military, and government-sponsored programs such as Medicare and Medicaid.
Carenet’s initial product offering was a patient navigation and advocacy platform including a telephonic nurse advice service. Its portfolio of healthcare support services, healthcare navigation, care management programs and consumer engagement solutions rapidly grew as did the company’s revenue earning it the title of an Inc. 500 Fastest Growing Company in America in 2009 and 2010[1][2] and an Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Company in America in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.[3][4][5][6][7]
In 2011, Carenet expanded its services internationally serving members in Europe, Asia and Africa.

- URAC Health Call Center Standards Accreditation: URAC Health Call Center standards apply to organizations providing triage and health information services to the public when conducted by telephone, via the web or other electronic means. The standards assure that registered nurses, physicians or other validly licensed individuals perform the clinical aspects of triage and other health information services in a manner that is timely, confidential, and includes medically appropriate care and treatment advice.[8][9]
- National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Health Information Product (HIP) Certification: Awarded to Carenet for its proficiency in implementing and managing a diverse set of solutions recognized by NCQA HIP, including Health Appraisals, Pharmacy Benefits, Health Information Lines, and Wellness and Prevention solutions.[10]
