Calgary Rugby Foot-ball Club
Calgary Rugby Foot-ball Club was an early football club formed in Calgary, Alberta in October 1907. Today's Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League directly trace their lineage to this club.
Calgary RFC renamed itself the Calgary Tigers in 1908 and joined the Alberta Rugby Football Union in the same year (along with Caledonia and Hillhurst Football Clubs). It later joined the then newly-formed Western Canada Rugby Football Union in 1911 and won the first-ever Western championship that year. The team would be renamed several names in next few decades:
- Calgary Tigers- 1908-22, 1925, 1928-30
- 50th Battalion- 1923-24
- Calgary Altomah-Tigers- 1931
- Calgary Altomahs- 1932-34
- Calgary Bronks- 1935-41
- Calgary Stampeders- 1945-present
