"Cafe on the Corner" is a song written by Mac McAnally, and recorded by American country music group Sawyer Brown. It was released in August 1992 as the first single and title track from the album Cafe on the Corner. The song reached number 5 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart and number 2 on the Canadian RPM Country chart.[1]

Content

The song is a ballad about the plight of a dispossessed farmer and others who are "down and out" in life.

Critical reception

Deborah Evans Price, of Billboard magazine reviewed the song favorably saying that the song is supported by a "riveting video."[2]

Music video

The music video was directed by Michael Salomon and premiered in August 1992.
