Burning River Roller Derby or BRRD,[2] are a women's flat-track roller derby league based in Cleveland, Ohio. BRRD is a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA).[3]

League structure

Burning River Roller Derby was started as Burning River Roller Girls in 2006.[4] The BRRD league has four home teams who play against each other in league play, the Cleveland Steamers, the Hard Knockers, the Hellbombers, and the Rolling Pin-Ups. The Pyromaniacs are a "farm team" comprising the league's newest members before they are drafted to home teams. BRRD has two travel teams, the Burning River Hazmat Crew, which are BRRD's B team, and The Burning River All-Stars, who are BRRD's charter A team and represent Burning River in WFTDA play.

In early 2015, Burning River announced the change of the league name from Burning River Roller Girls to Burning River Roller Derby, to place less emphasis on gender and better reflect its members.[1]
