The Burmese bush lark (Mirafra microptera) is a species of lark in the Alaudidae family.
Range and population
Although the global population of Mirafra microptera has not yet been quantified, it is believed to be locally numerous within its sizable range in central Myanmar, where it is endemic, and is estimated to have an extent of occurrence of anywhere from 50,000 to 100,000 km2.
Habitat
Mirafra microptera is a common denizen of a variety of habitats, running the gamut from naturally occurring grasslands, to fallow farm fields giving way to sand, to many arable lands (especially any of those marked with occasional trees and shrubbery).
Taxonomic note
Following work a decade ago by Per Alström, Mirafra microptera was split from M. assamica, along with two others, making a new total of four. They are now M. assamica, M. affinis, M. erythrocephala and M. microptera.[2]
