Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra
The Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra (부천 필하모닉 오케스트라) is an orchestra based in Bucheon, a metropolitan city located between Seoul and Incheon, Korea. It was founded in 1988 as a part of Bucheon Civic Arts Company. In 1989, they engaged Heon-Jeong Im as Music Director and Principal Conductor.
Since the 1990s, they have held many concert series such as Korean premiere of Arnold Schoenberg, Alban Berg and Bartók's works and the complete cycle of Beethoven and Brahms' symphonies. Between 1999 and 2003, they performed Gustav Mahler's complete symphonies (except Tenth Symphony's 5-movement performing version) for the first time in Korea.
In September 2002, they attended Asian Orchestra Week in Tokyo and received favourable criticism of their performance of Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique.
They are playing mostly in Bucheon Civic Center and Concert Hall of Seoul Arts Center.
