Brooke Shipley

Brooke Elizabeth Shipley is an American mathematician. She works as a professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she is head of the Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science.[1] Her research concerns homotopy theory and homological algebra.[2]

Shipley graduated from Harvard University in 1990.[1] She earned her Ph.D. in 1995 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, under the supervision of Haynes Miller.[3] After postdoctoral studies at the University of Notre Dame and the University of Chicago, she joined the faculty of Purdue University in 1998. She then moved to Illinois at Chicago in 2003.[1]

In 2014, she was elected as a fellow of the American Mathematical Society "for contributions to homotopy theory and homological algebra as well as for service to the mathematical community."[2]
