Brocas Helm is a heavy metal band from San Francisco founded in 1982.[1] It is named after the medieval Brocas helm displayed in London's Rotunda, Woolwich.
Biography
Brocas Helm was founded in 1982 by Bobbie Wright, James Schumacher, Jack Hays and John Grey. In 1983, the band released their first demo. In 1984 she was taken from First Strike for the USA and Steamhammer for Europe under contract. In the same year they released their first album Into Battle on the market.
After various disagreements (for example, the cover of Into Battle was determined without the consent of the band) Brocas Helm severed, by mutual agreement, the contracts with their record companies despite the second album that they had committed to. After a long and fruitless search for a record label that would meet their expectations, Brocas Helm founded their own.
During five years of hard work in their studio they created the Black Death album with Tom Behney on guitar. With the main aim of trying to catch the interest of a high quality record label they released the demo album. Brocas Helm could still not find a suitable record company by the time that the album Ghost Story was completed in 1994. Subsequently they released the Time of the Dark (1997) and Blood Machine/Skullfucker singles independently.
In 2003 Brocas Helm stepped under the label of Eat Metal Records, which published an unabridged live album Black Death in Athens (2004), as well as the other two albums with bonus songs and new representation. Also in 2004, the band recorded the album Defender of the Crown, and published it under their own name.
The songs "Cry of the Banshee" and "Drink the Blood of the Priest" were used in the 2009 video game Brütal Legend.
