Scott Brian Fletcher (born October 26, 1988) is an American professional baseball player currently with the Birmingham Barons in the Chicago White Sox organization.

Personal life

He was born in Fayetteville, Georgia and attended Starr's Mill High School before attending Auburn University, where he played from 2008 to 2010. He is the son of former Major League Baseball player Scott Fletcher.[1] His brother-in-law is Gordon Beckham. His grandfather, Richard Fletcher, also played professional baseball.

College career

He was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 39th round of the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft, but did not sign a contract. He then attended Auburn University.

Fletcher posted a slash line of .324/.408/.611 with 10 home runs and 42 RBI in 54 games his freshman season. Collegiate Baseball Newspaper named him a freshman All-American and he tried out for the United States national baseball team.[2] then hit .301/.420/.628 with 17 home runs and 54 RBI in 56 games his sophomore season. In 2008 and 2009, he also played for the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod League; the latter campaign, he hit .291 in 117 at-bats. In 2010, his junior campaign, he batted .357/.430/.694 with 22 home runs and 75 RBI in 61 games. He was named first-team All-Southeastern Conference that year. After his junior season, he was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 18th round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft and began his professional career that year.

Professional career

He hit .313/.353/.688 with two home runs and four RBI in four games for the Burlington Royals his first season, then hit .328/.386/.560 with 14 home runs and 60 RBI in 91 games for the Kane County Cougars in 2011 to earn MiLB.com Organization All-Star honors, as well as a Player of the Week selection. He hit 15 home runs and had 11 stolen bases in 2012 and played for the Surprise Saguaros of the Arizona Fall League following the regular season. He was named an AFL Rising Star. In 2013, he hit .292 with 17 home runs and 54 RBI in 78 games, 26 of which were spent with the Triple-A Omaha Storm Chasers. In his first taste at Triple-A, he hit .250 with five home runs and 17 RBI in 26 games. He returned to Triple-A for part of 2014 and hit .298 in 35 games. For 2015, he signed with the Chicago White Sox and spent the whole year at Double-A.[3]
