Brent Stephen Smith[1] (born January 10, 1978) is an American singer and songwriter, best known as the lead vocalist of the band Shinedown.
Early career
In the early 1990s, Brent was in a band called "Blind Thought". Prior to fronting the rock band Shinedown, Brent was the lead singer in a band called "Dreve", which Atlantic Records had signed and sent to L.A., California to record with well-known producer Desmond Child. Shortly after returning home to Knoxville, TN, Atlantic dropped the band but retained Smith.[2] He was soon given a developmental contract by Atlantic Records; Brent left to find other musicians to form a new band which would become Shinedown.
