Robert Treman "Bob" Clendenin[2] (born April 14, 1964) is an American actor known for portraying Carl Dawson in the TBS series 10 Items or Less, Roy in the failed pilot turned Internet series Nobody's Watching, and as Dr. Tom Gazelian on the ABC-TV comedy Cougar Town.

Education

Clendenin graduated from Cornell University in 1986 and earned his Master of Fine Arts from Penn State University in 1990. He has subsequently built an acting career defined by roles as oddball side characters in TV and film.[3]

Career

Television career

Among his more notable recurring roles on television, he appeared as oncologist (and sexual deviant) Dr. Paul Zeltzer in the comedy series Scrubs, and the aptly named Slow Roger in My Name Is Earl. He appeared as characters in numerous shows including The Tick, Popular, Charmed, Will & Grace, Ugly Betty, That '70s Show, Felicity, Weeds, Gilmore Girls, NYPD Blue, Desperate Housewives, The League, Star Trek: Voyager as a Vidiian surgeon, Space: Above and Beyond, Roswell, and on several episodes of The Closer. He has also appeared in many of John Lehr's shows including Quick Draw, 10 Items or Less, and Jailbait. He also played the role of the Bob the Devil on an episode of Anger Management.

Film career

His film appearances include the 2009 film Star Trek, as a ship yard worker who interacts with Kirk, as well as playing one of the space nerds in the movie Dude, Where's My Car? (credited as Robert Clendewin).

Other work

Clendenin appeared in the 2011 Rockstar Games video game LA Noire as Irwin Bousman.

Clendenin has also appeared in commercials for Jack In The Box, GoDaddy, Progressive, and State Farm. He starred as devil-may-care Ted in the 2008 film short Daryl From OnCar. This short was produced for WGA-affiliated StrikeTV, a site created to benefit crew affected by the writer's strike of Nov. 5, 2007 - Feb. 12, 2008.

Recent Roles

He had a recurring role on Cougar Town as Tom, a comedically bizarre neighbor who has a crush on the main character, Jules Cobb (Courteney Cox), and he was upgraded to the regular cast in season four. Bob also plays the role as the town undertaker Vernon Shank in the Hulu original series Quick Draw.
