Blyth Education

Blyth Education is a private company based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada that offers secondary education and educational credit programs. Branches of Blyth include: Blyth Academy, Blyth International Summers and Community Service, and Queen's-Blyth Worldwide.

Blyth Academy

Blyth Academy is a private co-ed high school that provides full-time, part-time, summer, and private courses. The Academy currently has nine campuses in the Greater Toronto Area: Blyth Yorkville - in the Yorkville neighborhood, Blyth Thornhill - in York Region, Blyth Lawrence Park - in the Yonge and Lawrence neighbourhood, Blyth Port Credit - in the city of Mississauga, Blyth Burlington - located in the city of Burlington and Blyth Ottawa and Blyth London,[1] with two new campuses: Blyth Barrie - on the shores of Kempenfelt Bay and Blyth Whitby - in the Durham Region. The Academy operates on a four-term academic year, in which students take two courses per term with three two-hour periods per day. Class sizes are typically small, ranging from six to eight students.[2] All campuses, with the exception of Blyth Burlington, offer courses for students in Grades 9-12. Blyth Burlington has a specialized Middle Years program and offers courses for students in Grades 5-12. The Blyth Burlington campus also offers an optional Elite Athletes program, with flexible schedules for student-athletes.

Educational partners include the Art Gallery of Ontario, Royal Museum of Ontario, Toronto International Film Festival, Outward Bound Canada and Don Valley Brick Works.[3] Students can take courses held at the Royal Ontario Museum and Outward Bound Canada in a joint program with the Academy. Students can also take courses at all four Partnerships in the summer through Blyth's Summer in the City programs. Blyth offers full-time students an Integrated Travel studies option.

Scholarships and bursaries are available for full-time students who are in need of financial aid.

Blyth International Summers

Programs are structured to include program managers, teachers and support staff. On-site learning is encouraged on all international programs. Blyth offers 21 different programs, to 28 countries on five continents:[4]

Students can choose from grade 11 or 12 Ministry of Ontario-approved courses. Average class size is 12, led by certified instructors.

Needs-based scholarships provide partial to full funding.

Global High School

Through Blyth Academy Global High School, Grade 11 and 12 students will travel around the world, studying and earning high school credits. Students can enroll for as little as a ten week term or for the full four terms of their academic year. Students earn two credits per term.

Queen's-Blyth Worldwide

In January 2011, Blyth announced an agreement with Queen's University to offer university credit courses internationally. In its first year, Queen's-Blyth Worldwide visited countries including Spain, Italy, and France in May and June 2012.[5]

Cambridge Scholars

The Blyth Cambridge Commonwealth Trust Scholarships are offered annually to Canadian high school graduates who wish to take their undergraduate degree at Cambridge University. The successful candidates are granted admission to the College of their choice at Cambridge University, full tuition for three years of undergraduate study, travel costs and a full living allowance. The scholarships are awarded to students with superior academic achievement who for financial reasons would not otherwise be able to attend Cambridge University.
