The black-capped hemispingus (Hemispingus atropileus) is a species of bird in the Thraupidae family.

It is found in the Andes of Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.

The Peruvian form is sometimes treated as a separate species, the white-browed hemispingus (H. auricularis).

Description

The species has a yellow breast and underparts, while its back and tail are green.[2]

Habitat

They feed on Chusquea bamboo species.[2]
