William George "Bill" Deacon is a New Zealand former rugby league player who represented his country in the 1970 World Cup.
His uncle, Edwin Abbott, also played for the New Zealand Kiwis.[2]
Playing career
Deacon played for the Ngaruawahia Panthers in the Waikato Rugby League competition and represented Waikato.[3] He was first selected for the New Zealand Kiwis in 1965. That year he was also named the New Zealand Rugby League player of the year.[4]
Deacon was included in the Kiwis squad for the 1970 World Cup and played his last test match for his country in 1971. He finished his career having played in fourteen tests for New Zealand.[5]
