Bhatpar Rani is a town and a tehsil in Deoria district in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India.
Demographics
As of 2001 India census,[1] Bhatpar Rani had a population of 12,494. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Bhatpar Rani has an average literacy rate of 63%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 72% and female literacy of 53%. 15% of the population is under 18 years of age. The city is also known as SONAR city because there are many goldsmiths which are famous for their own designs, People all over the districts come to this place to get various gold ornaments and new designs ornaments. Each and every Goldman is famous for his design. People fly down to gorakhpur over the country and from Nepal and Mianmar to get gold and silver ornaments for all occasions. Life in this area is dependent of agriculture and various types of business. Most of the commodities purchased are unprocessed or semi-processed agricultural products. These are cleaned, graded and packaged by Farmers prior to distribution in local and international markets. 10 per cent of the farmers agri-commodities are processed into supermarket-ready products. Farmers currently procures in Maize, Wheat, Soya Beans, Rice,Sorghum, Millet, Beans, Pigeon Peas, Cow Peas, Chick Peas, Green Gram, Groundnuts, raw Cashew Nuts, Sesame Seed, Niger Seed, Coriander Seeds, Cumin Seed, Linseed, Ginger, Cloves, Sugar, Coffee, Fertiliser and Tea.
Bhatpar is well known for the post graduate college Madan Mohan Malaviya and many intermediate colleges. People here are soft-hearted and soft-spoken mainly, which helps this city stay calm and violence free. No riots are seen so far in last decades. Nowadays, most of the young people prefer to move to Metro cities and are a boon to city.
The great rishi and preacher of Hinduism Yogi Parashar Rishi was born in Sohanpar, which is a village under this city.
