Bhartendu Harishchandra Awards

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of India gives Bharatendu Harishchandra Awards to encourage original and creative writing in Hindi on Mass Communication i.e. Journalism, Publicity, Advertisement, Radio, Television, Film, Printing, Publications etc. The prizes are awarded by the Publications Division, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. The program began in 1983.

First Prize is of Rs. 75,000, Second Prize is Rs. 50,000, Third Prize is Rs. 40,000 and five Consolation Prizes of Rs. 5,000.

In 1992-93 awards for national integration, women's problems and children's literatures, were added.

Journalism and Mass Communication

   1st prize: Vijaya Lakshmi Sinha for her work 'Maine Awaaj ko Dekha'. 
   2nd prize: Madhav Hada for his book ‘Seedhiyaan Chadhta Media.’ 
   3rd prize: Suresh Kumar for his work ‘Online Media’.

Women's Issue category

   1st prize: Urmila Kumari for her book 'Jaar Jaar Taar Taar'.
   2nd prize: Sanjula Thanvi's book 'Manavaadhikar,Panchayati Raj Se Sashakt Naari'

Children's Literature category

   1st prize: Dr.Mohammed Arshad Khan for his book'Mickey Mouse'
   2nd prize: Pavitra Agarwal for'Phoolon se pyar'

2011

   1st prize: Vijay Dutt Shridhar for his manuscript ‘Pehla Sampadakiya’. 
   2nd prize: Harish Chandra Barnwal for his book ‘Television ki Bhasha’ 
   3rd prize: Santosh Kumar Nirmal for his book ‘Filmein aur Prachar: Tab se ab tak’.

Women's Issue category

   1st prize: Gitashri for her manuscript 'Aurat ki Boli'.

National Integration

   1st prize: Dr.Navratan Kapoor for his book" Tyoharon Tatha Melon ki Vichitratayen,Jansanchar Maadhyam aur Rashtriya Ekta".

Children's Literature category

   1st prize: Bano Sartaj for her book 'Pakya aur Parichham'
   2nd prize: Rajiv Saxena for'Professor Khurana ka Clone'
